LOWER SIXTH

All students will be expected to choose 4 AS subjects to study in their first year.

The combination can bring about a complimentary selection, a contrast in study areas and a selection which is determined by their ambitions for the future.

Students will be expected to complete some background research if they intend to follow a particular career path and investigate the need to study particular subjects.

The following subjects are offered at AS and A2 level:

·      Heath & Social Studies (Single/Double)

STUDENTS MUST ACHIEVE AT LEAST 5 GRADE ‘C’ PASSES AT GCSE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A LEVEL COURSES

At the end of the Lower Sixth those wishing to continue with their studies at A2 level in the Upper Sixth will be asked to select 3 of their 4 AS choices.

Their 4th subject will gain a certificate at AS level and this will also count in the university points score tariff system when applying for university places.

UPPER SIXTH

Students will be expected to have achieved passes in their AS subjects in order to progress into Upper Sixth.

All students will be asked to continue with 3 of their chosen subjects.

Students who achieve 2 AS passes and continue their studies at A2 will be expected to choose a further AS subject in support.
